Version 1.0 Last updated: 19 July 2026 UK GDPR / PECR Compliant

1. Introduction

This Marketing Communications Policy explains how FlyForward asks for, records, and acts on your consent to receive optional marketing emails - things like newsletters, event invitations, membership offers, and partner opportunities. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle your personal data more generally.

This Policy does not cover the essential service emails every member receives regardless of marketing consent (for example verification codes, security alerts, or notices about changes to your account) - those are sent on the basis of contract and legitimate interests, as set out in Section 14 of our Privacy Policy, and cannot be opted out of while you hold an account.

2. What Counts as "Marketing Communications"

Every marketing email we send is clearly identified as such and includes a one-click unsubscribe link.

3. Our Legal Basis: Your Consent

Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we only send you marketing communications where you have given clear, opt-in consent. We do not pre-tick consent boxes and we do not treat silence, inactivity, or pre-ticked boxes as consent.

You can give or withdraw this consent at any time, and doing so has no effect on your ability to use the FlyForward Platform or your membership status.

4. How We Collect Your Consent

MomentHow
Signing up onlineAn unticked checkbox on the final step of registration, alongside (but separate from) acceptance of our Community Guidelines, Terms & Conditions, and Privacy Policy
Signing up in person (e.g. at an airshow)The same unticked checkbox, offered by the volunteer or staff member helping you register, or by you directly when you finish setting up your account afterwards
Existing members who haven't yet answeredA one-time prompt shown the next time you log in to the portal, which you can accept, decline, or dismiss to answer later

5. What Data We Use for Marketing

If you consent, we use your name, email address, and (where relevant) your aviation role or sector to send you communications that are relevant to your interests. We do not use marketing consent as a basis to collect any additional personal data beyond what is already described in our Privacy Policy.

6. Sharing With Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Where a FlyForward event or opportunity is run jointly with a partner organisation, we will say so clearly in the relevant communication before any of your data is shared, and only where a separate legal basis for that specific sharing exists.

7. Withdrawing Your Consent

8. Under-18 Members

Marketing consent is collected and applied in the same way for all account types. Where our Terms and Conditions or Safeguarding Policy place additional restrictions on communications with under-18 members, those restrictions take priority over anything in this Policy.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or in applicable law. Where changes are significant, we will notify members by email. The date at the top of this page always shows when it was last updated.
